Why did you want dupe for blooming? There is no need of dupe girl in the blooming process. Only birds, petals and elixir.

I was buying dupe reissue girls (only the ones whose reissues aren't perma) for some reason

I thought it was b/c you need to sell 'em for something?

Did I confuse Blooming with Blossom gifts? Using or selling 3+ star girls gives me some form of currency once that feature is unlocked right?

yepp, there will be a new currency: "bond crystals". you get them by fusing or selling 3*, 4*, 5* and 6* girls.

To be clear. When you'll sell or use as upgrade material 3*~6* girls, it will give you Bond Crystals. But you can also get Bonds Crystal by turning useless equipement into these crystals.

Bond Crystals are used to buy D medals, used for various stuff like 5*~6* tickets of other. Bondcrystal can also be used to buy Bloomed Affection gifts (aka 2nd Affection git for no confusion). But you CAN NOT get Blooming material from Bond Crystal.
Despite the name of these two features, Blooming (aka 2nd evolution form) is not related with Bloomed Affection. You can bloom a girl even if she is not max 1st affection and you can unlock the 2nd affection of a girl even if she is not bloomed or if she has no bloomed form.

In another words, Bond Crystals are not related to the Blooming (=2nd evolution) System.

Then, if we look closer these Bond Crystals. You can get them from 3* to 6* girls to buy 2nd affection gifts. But you can also buy these gifts with Life Crystals. You can also buy Blooming Hearts, the thing used to unlock 2nd Affection for maxed affection girls.
And you can buy Nation Petals (used in Blooming evolution this time) with Life Crystal too.

Now, what it's better. spend days of tamina on reissue to get one 5* girl that give 1,000 Bond Crystal (to give you an idea, D Medal cost 500 crystal, gifts cost between 39 & 270 for high class gift (you have limited amount of gift with various prices with lower ones in smaller quantities)) of use that stamina to get event currency and Life Crystals?
It only depend on you and your choice. For me, Life Crystal is more important now. And when Bond Crystal will comes, it will be still time to get reissue girls for extra D Medals (in any cases, D Medals are limited and refilled like LC shop so, you can get enough for a ticket in just one shop refill).

Seems like I should save my Life Crystals for Blooming Materials (and skill blooms I guess), while using dupes to get Bond Crystals to get D-Medals to get either tickets or 2nd tier gifts.

Nope. You can't buy D MEdals with Life Crystals. Only with Bond Crystals.

About blooming material:
there is two missions that drop Gold/Rainbow Blooming Elixir. You canalso buy them with Blue Medals.
there's some missions that drop birds and nation petals. Those missions give you some Blue Medals too.
You can buy petals with Life Crystal or just normal Gold in the Gold shop (not Nutaku Gold, only Gold like the one used for level up).
You can buy birds with Whale Medals.
to be a bit more clear about this:
Blooming Elixir: got from their own missions or bought with Blue Medalsin Blue Medals Shop.
Birds: got from Blue Medals missions or bought with Whale Medals.
Petals: got from Blue Medals missions or bought with gold in gold shop for 100k each of them or with Life Crystal.


About 2nd affection gift, you can also rarely get them from Gather. Or you can craft Bronze/Silver énd affection gift (that give 5% or 10% affection) from any of the basic gifts. But it cost a lot to make one.

Yeah, DMM is a really different world, full of unknow currency and mysterious shops.
