I don't see how this would be a bug, this is in keeping with what they've done previously in shard events. Last time the cards from the Shards 1 event were available, it seems like for the time being they're giving players 2 chances to get these trading post cards....Unless you mean him keeping the shards in which case that doesn't seem odd either, since in Pero Colo which Shards seems to have replaced, we collected "Pero Gacha Tickets" and those also carried over to the next event.

Give one F2P game to a Korean: He will turn it in a P2W (pay to win)
Give one F2P to an American: He will turn it in a P2F (Pay to fail)

The only thing I could find was this on the Pero news feed
I really haven't notice if my shards carried over or not, but other people have confirmed this seems to be the case.

Nice i just use up all my remaining shards in the previous event
i was actually getting to know the answer if the shards would carry over
But since people confirm that they would indeed carry over, i'm going to remain some leftovers ( and hope that they would still stay)

Are the bonus points even worth it?
What I mean with that question is: Are the matches for 2 and 3 bonus points much harder?
Personal opinion, no, unless you are looking for the top top spots. Each offensive win gives you 3 points, plus any bonus ones, so 4 points minimum. Going for the 3 bonus points matches is a 50% increase, or half an extra win. You are best served by being active more than going after the top matches, at least until you get the 300 consecutive wins.
Also, the current 5th place rank (daveport at the time of the writing) also has only low ranked fights.
Currently playing: Aigis, Harem Heroes and Crush Crush
Shards carrying over? That happened the previous times as well, so it's most likely intentional.
