That would the change in the level explain, as i would push a character to max level and then reset them to evolve, then push to 40 and stop.
Reason i stoped at 40, or try to focus evolving 4* in general, being the skyrocketing exp requirements from 40->50. Bringing a 4* from 1->40 requires ~45k Exp, and then the next 10 Levels need 35k in total, that is almost the double. 5* need lvl 60 to evolve which is from 50->60 45k Exp, ignoring ~90k Exp needed to boost them to 50 in the first place.
Those 45k Exp to make a 5* ready for evo, are enough to boost a freshly evo'd 4* to 40 already, which is a way higher Power gain in total.
Only reason i evo'd Edelweiss and lavender as soon as possible was their potential strengh with the 5/5 Skill and 4/4 Slots. Lily was only done because i jut had 2 4* Pierce to push.
