Yep that is what I meant as well as the fact that all the best girls are not event girls (bar a few) so you are not likely to have 4 slots open on many and thus you should already have many defence earrings that are not being used.

I have 14 event earrings and only 1 is being used because only 2 of my girls have 4 slots open and the other has enough defence with the bracelet and necklace.

I generally "park" event equipment on the girl from that same event, until I find a more suitable host and actually leveled the jewelry a little. I went bankrupt a while back from leveling the jewelry on my counter squad, which was totally worth it, but also taught me not to rush equipment leveling again.

I haven't lvl any equipments at all lol

If you follow the guide in the sticky, it costs about $40K coins to level one item to max. It's just a few thousand to get to the intermediate step of Level 31 if you don't want to max it.

Those start appearing in phase 2 of the current event. Not sure what effect they will have yet tho.

I definitely need the leveled/mid-leveled equipment to finish Winter Rose Garden and the other Defensive Battles. Not the event earrings though except on counter girls, just the level 40 attack ones. So very useful.
