You can go over the limit by an unlimited amount as long as you don't have more than the limit when you start.

I knew that it's possible to go over the limit, but I didn't know that it's unlimited...1k is a lot over the limit after all (assuming that someone didn't spent FG on expanding character capacity like crazy xD).
