Yet by deals like these ones, when a "cheap" one comes up, you guys start snatching them up desperately, because of how "good" the deal is.

No it's not really a good deal, but when you go clubbing 4 beers will cost you $10 as well, which is still a bad deal but you'll do it anyway. I don't mind small investments in a hobby I enjoy, but I steer clear from outrageous deals like the current one.
