It's actually not bad at all in terms of Total Power; Rose is a surprisingly strong bronze rank. And if we want to find the total power of a Rainbow Squad, we just have to re-add the affection bonus of units back into a helper squad already on our ally list; aside from Ampys and level scaling, there's no other variables that come into play on the display screen. I'll just use the strongest helper squad on my ally list as the example:

Re-add 26,352 Affection Bonus points for all 5 units onto the existing 83,760 Total Power, and the real total becomes 110,112 (not including any Ampys the player may have used.

So it's more complicated than that (otherwise high defense would actually be really good) and there's a damage range or random factor. I know with enough defense you can end up taking only 1 damage from stuff though.

EDIT: Also, my Orchid has 550 less DEF than my Edelweiss (616 less DEF with Bipinna's buff), but is only taking 205 less damage from Important (less than a 20% damage decrease). St. Paulia has 5300 more health than Cepha Lanthera but 660 less DEF. With similar scaling, Cepha is going to go down 2-3 turns earlier, which is often a full extra battle earlier.
Now we're talking. Since you've been able to record all these numbers, you think you could do the reverse and figure out some rough values of enemy HP, and/or even Defense values? Generally, the units with higher Defenses also usually have higher attack values to go with them (and sometimes, Atk Abilities as well), which could very well end the fight just as quickly enough to reduce the damage taken.
